Ner Tamid – Flame of Knowledge
This Ner Tamid (Eternal Light) is a sculptural interpretation of the Flame of Knowledge design, created specifically for use with a portable Torah ark. Flowing embroidered lines rise from an open-book form, evoking both a living flame and the unfolding of sacred text. At the center, a spectrum of color suggests the continuous transmission of wisdom across generations.
Illuminated from within, the light brings the design to life, reinforcing the Ner Tamid’s role as a symbol of enduring presence, learning, and spiritual continuity. The piece is designed for flexibility and ease of use, powered either by battery or by a standard wall outlet, making it well suited for travel, temporary spaces, or multipurpose sanctuaries.
Blending traditional symbolism with contemporary fiber-based design, this Ner Tamid honors the timeless idea that knowledge, once kindled, continues to rise and illuminate.
The artwork is created with embroidery thread. It’s mounted in a custom made housing with LED lights inside. The size is 10 × 9 x 1.25 in (250 × 230 × 32 mm)
